Founded by legendary professional golfer Mark McNulty, with the support of the San Lameer golf professionals, the foundation creates opportunities for junior golfers of all ages and skill levels to learn, grow, and thrive through the sport.
Our goal is to provide quality golf learning facilities and meaningful experiences that allow children to participate in a sport that teaches discipline, integrity, perseverance, respect, and responsibility. Golf is more than a game—it is a lifelong journey that builds character, sharpens focus, and develops valuable life skills.
Through structured workshops, lessons, and coaching sessions hosted at San Lameer, junior golfers gain access to professional instruction in a supportive and inspiring environment. Whether a child is picking up a golf club for the first time or already showing competitive promise, the foundation is dedicated to nurturing each player’s individual journey.

Our Mission
Promote and Grow the Game of Golf
We aim to promote and enhance the game of golf by providing junior members at San Lameer Golf Course & Country Club with professional instructional and educational guidance. Young golfers are introduced to proper techniques, course awareness, and a strong appreciation for the sport.
Identify and Uplift Young Talent
The foundation actively supports young golfers who show natural talent and dedication to the game. Exceptional junior players may be invited to participate in advanced opportunities at San Lameer, helping them further develop their skills in a high-quality golfing environment.
Develop Skills and Competitive Readiness
Junior members are coached in all aspects of golf development, including swing fundamentals, short game techniques, course management, tournament preparation, golf rules, and proper etiquette. The goal is to equip young players with the confidence and ability to compete while enjoying the game.
Build Character Through Core Values
Inspired by The First Tee of America’s Nine Core Values, the foundation focuses on developing important life principles such as honesty, respect, sportsmanship, confidence, responsibility, perseverance, courtesy, judgment, and integrity.

Directors of the Mark McNulty Junior Golf Foundation
Mark McNulty
Mark turned professional in 1977, he cracked the top 10 official World Rankings for 83 weeks from 1987 – 1992. Mark won the Million Dollar Classic at Sun City in 1986 and was a Presidents Cup Captain’s Assistant twice.
Louis Thornhill
Golf has long been a way of life for Louis. Having started playing at an early age, he turned professional at 16. Louis has grown from a passionate golfer to one of the country’s most dedicated club managers.
Banus van der Walt
Banus is a retired property practitioner and an avid golfer. He was previously the managing director of Sanlam Properties and Gensec Property Services for 16 years.
Dr Robbie Robinson
Robbie is a retired dentist from Durban and has been a director of Cape Gannet Properties since 2000. Robbie is a devoted grandfather, a keen golfer and lover of the arts.
I would personally like to thank Dr. Robbie Robinson and Banus Van De Walt for their generosity in helping to build this program. These two long-standing board members of the San Lameer Golf & Country Club have lent their time to help form this foundation and make one of my life-long dreams come to life.
